Sequel To Hit Delco-Set Series 'Mare Of Easttown' Filming Locally

RIDLEY TOWNSHIP, PA — The hit HBO series "Mare of Easttown" that depicted Delaware County and the surrounding region is getting a follow-up, and is once again filming locally.

Earlier this week, officials in Ridley Township announced "Task" will be filming in the township. "Task," which stars Mark Ruffalo and is helmed by "Mare" creator and Berwyn native Brad Inglesby, is set in the "same universe" as the hit 2021 miniseries.

Filming will take place this Friday and Sunday into Monday at Our Lady of Peace School on Morton Avenue in Ridley, officials said at a meeting Wednesday.

Production trailers and equipment will be parked on streets around the school Friday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., as well from 10 p.m. Sunday to 10 p.m. Monday.

Residents are asked not to park on those streets during those hours, officials said.

No streets will close and the trailers and equipment will not be parked there over the weekend.

A police officer will be required at the location during production.

"Mare of Easttown" won four Emmy Awards: Outstanding Lead Actress for star Kate Winslet, Outstanding Supporting Actress for Julianne Nicholson, and Outstanding Supporting Actor for Evan Peters.

Ruffalo said in an interview with Deadline that he will be playing a "damaged" FBI agent in "Task," and said his character and Winslet's character from "Mare" could run into one another in the new series.

Ingelsby in 2021 said he was open to a sequel to the series, but little information about a follow-up came out until recently.

He said to follow up on the first season, he would want to ensure a new "story honors the first chapter and does things an audience will appreciate" to move forward with a new chapter of "Mare of Easttown."

Ruffalo is previously starred in another Delaware-County-set production in 2014's "Foxcatcher." Ruffalo played wrestler Dave Schultz, who was killed by John Eleuthère du Pont at du Pont's farm in Newtown Square in 1996.
