A Hatboro Intersection Is Poised To Get Safer After State Awards Grant For Traffic Safety
The $83,550 state grant through the Automated Red Light Enforcement program will enable Hatboro to upgrade a pedestrian intersection.

HATBORO, PA — State Sen. Maria Collett, D-12, has announced that her office has secured more than $80,000 in grant funding to help with traffic safety improvement in the Borough of Hatboro.
The senator announced Tuesday that $83,550 in Automated Red Light Enforcement grant funding was issued to Hatboro to upgrade an existing intersection.
The money will be used to install overhead and post-mounted pedestrian signage with Rectangular Rapid Flash Beacons for the existing crosswalk at the intersection of York Road and Summit Avenue, according to Collett's office.

"Continuing to fund infrastructure projects like this is critical to revitalizing our local economies," Collett said in a statement. "Hatboro is known for its walkable business district, and I'm glad the community will soon become even more pedestrian-friendly."
The Automated Red Light Enforcement program, Collett's office said, is designed to make signalized intersections safer by providing automated enforcement methods.

The senator's office stated that 28 projects were selected out of 132 applications from across 22 municipalities statewide seeking the grant funding.
In total, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will distribute $12.9 million in grant funding to project winners such as Hatboro.
