It Won't Be Long: McCandless Schedules Leaf Pickup

The following information is posted on the Town of McCandless website.

Fall leaf pickup for McCandless residents will begin Monday, October 21, 2013, and continue through Wednesday, November 27, 2013. 

Leaves will not be picked up on November 5 (Election Day), and on weekends. 

Leaf pickup on most Town of McCandless roads will be accomplished using leaf vacuum machines. Please rake only leaves onto the curb and gutter line to receive this service. 

Designated streets will continue to use leaf bags for collection. These bags should be placed as close as possible to the road. On streets designated for leaf bag pickup, residents may receive the first 25 bags per household free of charge from the Town of McCandless Department of Public Works office with proof of residency such as a driver's license.

Quantities in excess of 25 bags per household may be obtained at a cost of $11.00 per bundle of 25 will be available Tuesday, October 1 at the Public Works office located at 9957 Grubbs Road. 

Only leaves are to be placed in bags for pickup by the Town. No tree limbs, grass clippings or other yard waste may be included for this pickup. Click here for a listing of the streets using bags.

Residents on vacuum routes may also choose to place leaves in with the rest of their yard waste in their Town provided yard waste container (through December 6, 2013) and up to three (3) biodegradable paper bags free of charge for pickup by Allied/Republic Services, the Town's contracted trash, recycling and yard waste collector during leaf collection season. 

Allied/Republic Services will collect four (4) or more biodegradable paper leaf bags according to the fee schedule in the customer handbook, which was hung on your recycling cart.
     
Only biodegradable paper bags will be collected on Town leaf bag routes and by Allied/Republic as part of the yard waste service. Any questions related to leaf pickup should be directed to the Town of McCandless Public Works office at 412-364-0616, ext. 184.
