North Hills Getting New Big Burrito Group Restaurant
The Pittsburgh-based restaurant chain also plans a new restaurant in Lawrenceville.
McCANDLESS PA - Big Burrito Group has announced plans to open a second Alta Via restaurant to pair with the one that opened in Fox Chapel last spring. The new Alta Via will be located in the former TGI Friday's on Corporate Drive off of Route 19.
The Italian restaurant is expected to open in January 2021. Alta Via North will have 140 seats and a large bar for an additional 40 guests, according to a release.
The Alta Via menu emphasizes hearth cooking, seafood and homemade pastas. There also are vegetable-forward recipes and two flavors of soft serve gelato available daily.

Big Burrito also will open a new restaurant at 3529 Butler St. Lawrenceville next September. Details on that project have not been announced.
Big Burrito owns the Mad Mex chain, Casbah, Eleven, Kaya, Soba and Umi.
