- Pennsylvania U.S. Senate: Democratic Lt. Gov. John Fetterman faces celebrity physician Dr. Mehmet Oz to cap a vitriolic campaign that saw both candidates go for their opponent's jugular, often at the expense of focusing on policy issues.
Fetterman has a substantial fundraising edge over Oz, but Oz has significantly tightened the race in the polls in recent weeks. The election will determine who succeeds retiring GOP Sen. Pat Toomey.
- Pennsylvania Governor: Democratic state Attorney General Josh Shapiro squares off against Republican state Sen. Doug Mastriano who serves parts of Adams, Cumberland, Franklin and York counties.
Shapiro perhaps is best-known for spearheading an investigation that in 2020 identified more than 300 predator priests in Pennsylvania - including 99 in Pittsburgh. Mastriano is far-right in his political positions and participated in the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. The pair are vying to succeed outgoing Gov. Tom Wolf, who is prohibited by law from seeking a third term.

- U.S. House: The 17th Congressional District race pits Chris Deluzio of Aspinwall, who works on cybersecurity issues at the University of Pittsburgh, against businessman and former Ross Township commissioner Jeremy Shaffer. The pair are vying to succeed Conor Lamb, who decided against a re-election bid for an ill-fated run for the U.S. Senate.
Shaffer recently told the League of Women Voters Pittsburgh branch that, if elected, he would "put Pennsylvania families first, invest in our infrastructure, keep our communities safe, advance economic reforms, empower parents and local schools, defend our freedoms, and put aside partisan politics."
Deluzio told the League of Women Voters: "We should be fighting for a vibrant economy that leaves no one behind, not a system that rewards corporations and the ultra wealthy. These are values that I will bring to Congress and guide my decisions."
The reconfigured 17th District is composed of many of Pittsburgh's northern suburbs and Beaver County.
- PA State Senate: Democratic incumbent Lindsey Williams squares off against Republican challenger Lori Mizgorski in the 38th District.
Williams, an attorney, told the League of Women Voters: "As minority chair of the Senate Education Committee, I support a transparent system to fund our children’s education, from pre-K to college or trade. Education dollars must be spent fairly, transparently, and equitably to do the most good for the greatest number of students."
Mizgorski did not provide biographical information or her position on any issues.
The 38th State Senate district is composed of of East Deer, Fawn, Frazer, Hampton, Harmar, Harrison, Indiana, McCandless, O’Hara, Pine, Richland, Ross, Shaler, Springdale and West Deer, Aspinwall, Blawnox, Brackenridge, Cheswick, Etna, Fox Chapel, Sharpsburg, Springdale, Tarentum and West View, and several neighborhoods in Pittsburgh including Highland Park, Morningside, Belmar, Garfield, East Liberty and Lincoln-Lemington.
- PA State House: The 20th Legislative District race will pit Democratic incumbent Emily Kinkead against Republican challenger Matt Kruth.
Kinkead, an attorney, told the League of Women Voters that her priorities "are and will continue to be criminal justice reform, ending gun violence, and growing the economy." Kruth did not respond to requests for information.
The 20th Legislative District contains Ross, Avalon, West View, Bellvue, and the Perry North neighborhood in Pittsburgh.
- Allegheny County Ballot Question: In February, County Council passed legislation proposing an amendment to the county Home Rule Charter requiring council members to resign from office before they may run for federal, state, county and local elected office. The proposed amendment would remove that requirement.
