Longest Tenured North Hills School District Bus Driver Dies
Nancy Von Vreckin spent more than four decades transporting students to and from North Hills schools.
ROSS TOWNSHIP, PA — She was known as "Miss Nancy" and she drove ABC Transit Bus 366, transporting students to and from Ross and West View elementary schools, North Hills Middle School and North Hills High School.
Nancy Von Vreckin, the North Hills School District's longest tenured driver with more than 40 years of service, died Monday. A cause of death was not announced.
"From climbing over the hillside at work to get plants, to dressing up for Halloween, to driving the buses, Nancy absolutely lived life to its fullest,” said ABC Transit vice president of operations Todd O’Shell said in a district release. “She had such a huge heart and loved her friends as family.

"Nancy had many, many likes and very few dislikes. Her loves were for cooking and her birds, but especially just sitting out back having a cocktail, reading a good book and working in her garden. She could go out to pull a weed or two and finish hours later. She joked and called her yard work ‘therapy.’”
The district said in a statement that it sends "our deepest sympathies and heartfelt thoughts andprayers to Ms. Von Vreckin’s family and friends during this difficult time."
