DUI suspected in one-vehicle crash on Anders Road

Man treated for injuries suffered in weekend incident.

A Harleysville man suffered injuries and was taken to Hahneman University Hospital for treatment following a suspected DUI crash in Skippack early Saturday morning, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Police responded to a report of a vehicle that had crashed into a tree on Anders Road, and they found driver David Demarzio, 41, allegedly trying to flee the scene on foot, the report states. According to police, Demarzio was thwarted by “the head injury he received during the crash.” The report alleges that Demarzio appeared intoxicated and that he “admitted to drinking.”

The police investigation determined Demarzio “was traveling north on Anders Road and failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway,” the report states. Demarzio, who police allege was not wearing a seatbelt, hit the windshield of the car when it crashed into the tree.
