Man Treated at Lehigh Valley Hospital After Explosion at H&K Group

Reports indicate he is in serious condition.

A 37-year-old man was injured in a small vapor explosion at The H&K Group on Lucon Road in Skippack this morning, The Times Herald and The Reporter state.

and EMS were at the scene, as was an individual from the Pennsylvania State Police. A helicopter landed on the property, and the Skippack ambulance drove to meet it. The helicopter took the man to Lehigh Valley Hospital for treatment of his serious—but not life-threatening—injuries, according to The Reporter.

“He (the man) was working on the machinery doing repairs on the equipment,” Skippack Fire Chief Haydn Marriott IV said to The Times Herald today. “There was really no damage to the building or the machinery. There was just the injury to the individual,” Marriott said in the article.

A press release from the H&K group states: "The industrial-type accident is currently under investigation by both H&K, Inc.’s internal Safety and Risk Management Department and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration or OSHA."

According to its website, H&K Group is "a family of vertically integrated companies serving the contracting and construction industries," providing "construction materials, site contracting, demolition, landscape materials, recycling, clean fill facilities and emergency response."
