Letter to the Editor: 'Good Politics Makes for Bad Planning'

One Peters Township resident shares his opinion on why he's unhappy with council's decision not to connect two housing developments.

Recently, Council ignored planning commission and township staff recommendations while making decisions on the new Whispering Pines development.

Our old comprehensive land use plan encourages developments to be connected. This has been done many times before.

Some residents have concerns about this connection. I understand that The Woodlands now only has one way in and out. This design and vote are not adding up with the big picture.

A worry among residents is that council will ignore the new comprehensive plan also. A great deal of time and money will and has already been spent on this.

Council will be the hardest part of our population to convince to change. They need to be open to new ideas. Our township staff, I feel, has a great grasp of this and I hope staff, , will lead us as residents and council into a bright future.
