No Leads on Stolen Campaign Signs, According to Peters Township Police

Chief Harry Fruecht isn't hopeful that anyone will come forward.

Campaign signs for the gubernatorial election were stolen on the night of October 30, according to a letter sent by Patch Reader Bob Woeber.

“I don’t believe it was just some Wolfe supporter,” Woeber said. He thinks it was a “radical liberal.”

“Imagine how dangerous that must have been,” Woeber said. “They had to walk nearly a third of a mile along the road in the middle of the night.”

Woeber says that 90 percent of Corbett signs have disappeared all over Washington County.

“What got my goat was that I bought those signs, and I was the guy who risked my neck putting those signs up.”

Woeber has been an election judge in the past. He says he has witnessed people heckle at voting booths.

“We’ve put up with this every single election cycle,” he said.

Woeber filed a police report, but the department doesn’t have any leads at the moment.

“We put it in the paper, and we hope that somebody came forward? Right now we have no leads. “ said Harry Fruecht, Peters Township Police Chief. “What do you think can be done?”
