Peters Pony League Deemed Regional Champs

The team advances to the Host Area Tournament Friday after defeating Ohio Valley Monday.

The World Series team advances to the Host Area Tournament Friday in McCandless after defeating Ohio Valley Monday.

The team won the West Region Host Area Tournament with a 6-5 victory.

Peters was 4-1 in the tournament—held in Monessen—defeating Mars 10-2, Mon-Yough 13-3 and Ohio Valley 2-1, then losing to Ohio Valley 5-3. However, the team came back in the double-elimination championship game for the win.

Ryan Frizzell was the winning pitcher, pitching a complete game. The game was delayed an hour and a half in the fifth inning due to lightning. At that time, Peters was down, 4-2, but the boys regrouped and returned to win the game. 

The winner of Friday's tournament will advance to the Pony League World Series. In early July, the team defeated Washington, 8-3, in the Washington Tournament. For more, .
