Photos: Fun-Filled Fish Fest

Youngsters cast their lines at Peters Lake Park Saturday for an annual event.

Sweaters and sweatshirts were the order of the day, probably for the first time this summer, as youngsters took their rods and reels to  in on Saturday morning.

The occasion was the , sponsored by the McMurray Rotary Club and presented by the Peters Township Parks and Recreation Department.

Each year, children are invited to test the waters, and prizes are awarded in a number of categories, including biggest and smallest fish. Plus, everyone who participates gets a special prize, courtesy of the many local businesses that donated.

With temperatures a bit lower than usual, the fish seemed to be biting a bit more than in years past. Snakes, too: One lengthy serpent was brought to be measured, but immediately was disqualified!

All fish were immediately returned to the lake, to continue to swim around ... until the next time they take the bait.
