Rose Garden Pool Opens Saturday

The Rose Garden Pool Association is welcoming back its members on Saturday for another fun year. The facility, located on Canterbury Lane in , has been operating as a nonprofit organization chartered to provide its members with a place for recreation.

Peters resident Alex Ladzinski has been the association’s president since 2008. He and his family became Rose Garden members in 1999.

“The pool’s original charter was memorialized on April 6, 1965,” he said. “Our members are mostly from Peters Township, and we have some from North Strabane and bordering areas.”

Rose Garden has 325 members and more than 100 are currently on a waiting list. All members pay an initiation fee and purchase a non-amortizable bond in the amount of $500—paying dues and fees annualy.

“Each current member owns a slice of the pie,” Ladzinski said. “Rose Garden has a swim team, so many people want to become members.”

The swim team participates in meets with other teams in the area. Rose Garden Swim Team isn’t affiliated with Peters Township Swim Club, however many of those who participate in PTSC are also Rose Garden members, he said. 

Ladzinski said he’s looking forward to the opening Saturday, especially if the weather holds up like it's supposed to. The association will finish its latest remodeling project on Friday.

“We renovated the restrooms,” he said. “We put new flooring, tiles, ventilation, toilets and things of that nature.”

During the summer, the association will host kids’ nights, movie screenings and a celebration for Father’s Day—among other events.

The pool is open from 12-9 p.m. daily, but closes at 7 p.m. on school nights. The last day of school is June 7.
