2 Arrested & Charged In Pittsburgh Homicide, Rape

Pittsburgh police believe they have caught the culprits in a deadly 2022 home invasion.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Police have made two arrests in connection with violent incident in Knoxville in which a man was killed and a woman was severely injured and sexually assaulted.

The incident occurred a home invasion in November 2022 in the 100 block of Zara Street in Knoxville. Victor Sawyer, 52, died in the attack.

Detectives have charged Deonte Kidd, 30, and Le'Juane Powell, 31, in the case.

Kidd is charged with criminal homicide, conspiracy, burglary, robbery-inflict serious bodily harm, possession of a firearm prohibited, unlawful restraint and recklessly endangering another person. He is being held in the Allegheny County Jail.

Powell is charged with criminal homicide, conspiracy, burglary, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, unlawful restraint, possession of a firearm prohibited and recklessly endangering another person. He currently is in jail on unrelated charges.
