2025 Pittsburgh Marathon: Record Turnout Expected
Runners from all 50 states and 19 countries will be participating in the upcoming Dick's Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon.
PITTSBURGH, PA — The 2025 Dick's Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon events weekend will be the largest in the race's history, with more than 45,000 participants in various races occurring May 3-4.
Marathon officials said runners from all 50 states and 19 countries will take to the streets.
“This year’s event is truly a celebration of the power of movement and community,” said Troy Schooley, CEO of marathon organizer P3R. “Whether you're a first-time 5K runner, a marathon veteran, or someone cheering from the sidelines, there’s something for everyone during marathon weekend.”

The marathon weekend kicks off on May 2 with the Pittsburgh Live Well Expo presented by GNC, the largest health and fitness expo in Western Pennsylvania. Held at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, the two-day expo is free and open to the public, with more than 85,000 attendees expected.
The expo will showcase the latest innovations in health, wellness and endurance sports with booths from event partners, top brands, and game-changing products.

May 3, is “Family Day” with events for all ages and abilities, including:
- UPMC Health Plan / UPMC Sports Medicine Pittsburgh 5K
- U.S. Steel Pittsburgh Champions Mile
- Sheetz Pittsburgh Toddler Trot
- Chick-fil-A Pittsburgh Kids Marathon – the largest youth running event in the country, expecting nearly 10,000 young participants plus their families.
- Pittsburgh Pet Walk
May 4 features a full slate of premier races, including:
- DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon
- UPMC Health Plan Pittsburgh Half Marathon
- FedEx Pittsburgh Marathon Relay
- UPMC Health Plan / KeyBank Pittsburgh BACK Half Marathon
- GNC Pittsburgh 4-Mile Fitness Challenge
The weekend will also spotlight the efforts of a record 4,000 charity runners, who are expected to raise more than $1.5 million for local and national nonprofit organizations through the Run for a Reason Charity Program presented by KeyBank.
