- A water main break has impacted a section of 40th Street in Pittsburgh's Lawrenceville neighborhood. According to Pittsburgh Water & Sewer Authority, an 8-inch line broke between Penn Avenue and Davison Street. At the time of this writing, 40th Street remained closed and was expected to stay closed late into Tuesday night. (WTAE Pittsburgh)
- During the 61st annual Light Up Night on Saturday, Nov. 19, nearly 90,000 people visited the City of Pittsburgh. According to Jeremy Waldrup, President and CEO of the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership, people enjoyed a Disney Tribute Band, Pirates Mini-fest, and Santa’s House earlier in the day before dancing in the streets to Joan Jett’s performance. President and CEO of VisitPITTSBURGH Jerad Bachar added by stating the 61st rendition lived up to expectations and kicked off the holiday season with cheers, fireworks, singing, and shopping. - On Tuesday, a new homeless shelter opened its doors in Downtown Pittsburgh. Second Avenue Commons is a new, year-round shelter located on Second Avenue, opened at 2 p.m. The daytime program is known as the Engagement Center and will open for walk-in support starting at 9 a.m. Wednesday. The shelter has 95 beds and will be available for overnight shelter starting Tuesday night. It has room for an additional 30 overflow beds. (TribLIVE)
