5 Juveniles Charged In Incident That Injured Pittsburgh Cop

PITTSBURGH, PA — Three juvenile males and two juvenile females are facing charges in connection with an incident that injured a city police officer.

Police announced Tuesday that the charges they face include both felony and misdemeanor offenses for fleeing or attempting to elude police, receiving stolen property, recklessly endangering another person and causing damage to attended property.

On Saturday morning, a reported stolen vehicle and another vehicle were seen driving through the Zone 1 Police Station parking lot on the North Side. Both vehicles were occupied by masked individuals and were honking the vehicle horns as they passed.

Officers tracked the two vehicles at the intersection of Federal Street and Lafayette Avenue. As officers attempted to exit their patrol vehicle, one of the suspect vehicles struck an officer. The officer suffered moderate head injuries and had to be treated at a nearby hospital.

The vehicles fled the scene. One of them was later spiked near the 10th Street Bridge but continued fleeing. The vehicle proceeded onto the Boulevard of the Allies and Grant Street, Downtown, where four suspects exited the vehicle and were apprehended.

Officers continue to search for at least one suspect who remains at large.
