Acrisure Stadium Getting Major Upgrade
The Pittsburgh-Allegheny County Sports & Exhibition Authority is investing millions into an Acrisure Stadium renovation.
PITTSBURGH, PA —Major renovations are coming to Acrisure Stadium, the home of the Steelers and University of Pittsburgh Panthers, as well as the host of several concerts annually.
The joint Pittsburgh-Allegheny County Sports & Exhibition Authority on Thursday approved replacing 22,236 seats in the stadium and perform associated concrete and sealant work. The project will cost $6.1 million.
The current seats are the original ones in the stadium, which opened in 2001 as Heinz Field. The venue seats 68,400;according to Triblive, plans are afoot to replace a total of 58,000 seats over the next four years at a total cost of $17 million.

The project's announcement comes as the Cleveland Browns, a Steelers AFC North Division rival, are planning to begin construction on a new $3.4 billion stadium in that city's Brook Park suburb near Hopkins International Airport.
