Allegheny Co. Seeking To Hire Displaced Federal Workers

Allegheny County is encouraging federal employees to apply for one of the 1,000 full- and part-time jobs currently open at the county.

PITTSBURGH, PA — With extensive employee reductions occurring in many federal departments and agencies, Allegheny County has established a jobs portal for federal workers interested in bringing their experience to the county.

The portal can be accessed here.

Current or former federal workers are encouraged to answer several questions in the portal and submit their resume. County employees will then review and look for matchmaking opportunities with the county.

"We are committed to being an employer that treats its workers with dignity and respect, so in turn they can offer excellent service to the more than 1.2 million residents of Allegheny County.”

The portal was introduced a day after Gov. Josh Shapiro signed an executive order attempting to lure federal employees by accepting their government occupational experience as equivalent to state government work experience.
