Box Truck Strikes, Kills Man In Pittsburgh Neighborhood

A man was fatally injured Thursday in a Pittsburgh pedestrian-vehicle accident.

PITTSBURGH, PA — A man was struck and killed by a box truck Thursday morning in the city's Uptown section near UPMC Mercy Hospital.

Pittsburgh Public Safety officials were called to the intersection of Forbes Avenue and Pride Street, where the fatality occurred, at around 10:40 a.m.

Early indications are that the man was stumbling down the sidewalk before falling into the street.

The driver of the truck remained on the scene.

The victim has not yet been identified.

Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating.

In the upcoming weeks, the city’s Vision Zero Fatal Crash Response Team, which includes the Pittsburgh Police Collision Investigation Unit, will complete a site visit to evaluate potential crash factors.
