Deadly Pittsburgh U.S. Steel Plant Explosion: Latest Info
Here is the latest information on the deadly explosion at the U.S. Steel Clairton plant on Monday.

CLAIRTON, PA — Authorities are continuing to investigate the explosion Monday at the U.S. Steel Clairton Coke Works in which two people died.
According to Allegheny County police, five people remain hospitalized. They are men between the ages of 27 and 74 and are in critical but stable condition. Five other men were treated and released from Jefferson Hospital.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office has confirmed that one of the people who died was Timothy Quinn, 39, of Westmoreland County. The identity of the other person killed has yet to be released.

The cause of the blast has yet to be deterermined.
“We understand this is a high-profile incident, but we want to stress this investigation is going to take time," county Executive Sara Innamorato said on Tuesday.

"The families of workers killed, those who were injured, and the community deserve a thorough investigation to determine exactly what happened. U.S. Steel has pledged full cooperation and transparency, and we will hold them to that standard as we move forward with the investigation.”
The Allegheny County Health Department Air Quality monitoring in Clairton, Liberty and North Braddock near the plant all showed levels of PM 2.5 and Sulfur Dioxide to be within the National Ambient Air Quality limits throughout the event on Monday. Further, Hydrogen Sulfide levels were also low and below the state’s nuisance threshold level.
The health department continues to monitor the situation as it is ongoing and had contractors on site Tuesday performing routine inspections of the coking operations.
