Deadly Wrong-Way Crash Occurs On Heavily Traveled Pittsburgh Highway

A woman died Sunday after her vehicle traveled in the wrong direction on a busy Pittsburgh highway.

PITTSBURGH, PA — A woman died Sunday after being involved in a wrong-way crash on the Parkway West.

According to a Pennsylvania State Police report, a vehicle was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes at 1:18 a.m. and had a head-on collision with a vehicle traveling westbound.

The first vehicle came to rest on the center grass median. The driver of the first vehicle was taken to Allegheny County Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

She has been identified as Summer Cartrette, 26, of Aliquippa.

The driver of the other vehicle and a passenger were taken to an area hospital. The extent of their injuries were unknown as of Monday morning.

State police are continuing to investigate the incident.
