Dog Ignites Fire In Pittsburgh Home

Fire investigators have ruled that a canine was the culprit in starting a fire at a Pittsburgh residence on Tuesday.

PITTSBURGH, PA — A dog accidentally started a fire that caused significant damage in a city home on Tuesday.

The one-alarm fire occurred in the 100 block of Conover Road in Point Breeze.

Firefighters rescued the canine from the residence. The animal was taken by medics to an emergency veterinary clinic for smoke inhalation.

The resident made alternative arrangements for shelter.

The Fire Investigation Unit determined the fire began when the dog attempted to reach food placed on top of the stove and accidentally turned on a burner.
