PITTSBURGH, PA — The good news: the heat wave that has engulfed Western Pennsylvania soon will end.
The bad news: There is still one more day in which the heat has to be endured.
The National Weather Service says that Wednesday will be sunny and hot, with a high near 95. Heat index values will be as high as 100. There will be a light northwest wind.

A Code Red Heat Warning, indicating danger for those without cooling or hydration, has been issued.
Overnight, temperatures will topple to a frigid 72.

On Thursday, showers and thunderstorms will develop. The chance of precipitation is 70 percent. The expected high temperature will dip to the mid-80s. The showers and storms will continue into Thursday night.
On Friday, a chance of showers and storms also exists but the heat ends. The high will be near 78. Temperatures overnight on Friday will be in the lower 50s.
The high temperature on Saturday will be near 80. The high on Sunday will be in the low 80s.
