Federal Agent Fatally Shoots Pittsburgh-Area High School Student

Here are the details on the death of a Pittsburgh-area high school student who was shot by a federal law enforcement agent.

ALIQUIPPA, PA — A federal agent shot a Beaver County high school student who died early Friday, authorities said.

A Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agent shot a person later identified by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office as Kendric Curtis, 18. He was a senior at Aliquippa High School.

The incident occurred on Waugaman Street in Aliquippa at around 6:30 p.m., Pennsylvania State Police said.

Further information regarding the circumstances that led to the shooting were not immediately available Friday morning. WTAE-TV reported that the ATF and FBI were acting in a joint investigation when the shooting happened.

Aliquippa School District Superintendent Philllip Woods issued the following statement on the incident:

"The Aliquippa School District is committed to supporting our students, staff, and families during this difficult time. We have reached out to our local resources to ensure that the Trauma Support Team will be on-site during student arrival to assist our staff at the Junior/Senior High School. We will have resources available throughout the school day as needed."
