Flood Watch Issued For Pittsburgh Area, Tornado Risk Exists
Heavy rains already are occurring in Pittsburgh, and severe storms are possible later.

PITTSBURGH, PA —There is no need for sunscreen in Western Pennsylvania on Wednesday.
The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for the Pittsburgh metro and surrounding areas today as torrential rains already are occurring. As much as two inches could fall in some areas.
Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas, according to the weather service.

Additionally, a risk for severe weather exists today. The weather service says all hazards are possible, including isolated tornadoes, gusty wins and hail.
The severe weather is most likely in the Pittsburgh area from 3 p.m.-6 p.m. The chances of destructive storms will decline after sunset.

Further precipitation is likely over the next several days.
On Thursday, shower and thunderstorms are likely with below-average temperatures. The anticipated high is 57. The chance of precipitation is 90 percent.
On Thursday night, the chance for showers will persist with a 50 percent chance of precipitation. The low will be in the upper 40s.
There's a 60 percent chance of showers and storms on Friday, with an expected high temperature in the upper 50s.
The rain finally departs on Saturday, with partly cloudy skies expected.
