BRADFORD COUNTY, PA — A former standout Penn State football player is facing homicide charges after an ATV mishap that claimed the life of his girlfriend.

Wide receiver Julian Fleming faces felony homicide by vehicle while intoxicated charges from a fatal ATV accident that took the life of a Bloomsburg woman in May. According to court documents, Fleming, 24, of Elysburg, was charged Tuesday in connection with the death of Alyssa Boydo.

The Tribune-Democrat of Johnstown reported that Fleming was driving when the crash happened. The ATV collided with a deer that had jumped onto the roadway.

"In my view, the prosecution here took a tragic and unavoidable accident and turned it into a crime when the facts don't support that," Bahyuriak said.
