Girl Scout Cookie Delays Plague Pittsburgh Area

The annual distribution of those tasty girl scout cookies is being delayed in the Pittsburgh area and many other locations nationwide.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Say it isn't Samoas: Delivery of many girl scout cookies in southwestern Pennsylvania and nationwide is being delayed because of the production-related issues.

That means you might have to wait this year before sampling your Samoas, S'mores, Trefoils or the latest addition to the Girl Scouts cookie inventory: Adventurefuls.

The Girl Scouts of Southwestern Pennsylvania issued this statement to Patch:

"Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania was informed by our baker, Little Brownie Bakers, that they are experiencing production delays that impact the delivery of cookies in our council and their partner councils across the nation. We have received some of our inventory, and shipments from the baker continue to arrive. Our local product program team is working with our delivery partners to mitigate the impact to our troops, girls, and customers.

"As cookies arrive in local warehouses from the baker, we are immediately scheduling deliveries to Girl Scout troops. We ask for customers’ patience as some Girl Scouts may be delayed in delivering their orders.

"While these delivery issues are unfortunate, we are proud to see our Girl Scouts back in their communities selling, and they are excited to do so after two challenging seasons in the pandemic. We’d like to remind all cookie customers that the proceeds stay local and are critical to fund girls’ activities throughout the year. Thank you to customers, communities, families—and especially our volunteers—for supporting girls in the Girl Scout Cookie Program."
