Gun Seized At Pittsburgh International Airport

FINDLAY TOWNSHIP, PA — Allegheny County police have charged a Texas man after a firearm was discovered Monday at the main security checkpoint at Pittsburgh International Airport.

At 1:34 p.m. on July 14, Transportation Security Administration officers observed a handgun within a passenger’s carry-on bag at the main security checkpoint of Pittsburgh International Airport and alerted police.

The traveler, Erik Trask, 42, did not possess a valid concealed carry permit. Trask is facing one felony charge for carrying a firearm without a license. The Federal Bureau of Investigation was also notified.

Passengers who bring firearms into an airport security checkpoint can face federal civil fines from the Transportation Security Administration up to $10,000. Repeat offenders can be fined up to $13,910.
