Hazardous Pittsburgh Weather Conditions On Way
The National Weather Service is warning of possibly historic dangerous weather conditions for the Pittsburgh area.
PITTSBURGH, PA — Get ready to crank up the air conditioner.
The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Watch for Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania, as record-setting afternoon temperatures are about to arrive. The weather warning is in effect from Sunday morning through Wednesday evening.
High temperatures will be in the mid to upper 90s, with heat index values of as much as 105.

"High confidence in dangerously hot conditions building over the Ohio River Valley starting Sunday and lasting through late week," the weather service said in a social media post. "Start preparing now to stay cool and safe."

- Saturday: High near 90, low around 71.
- Sunday: High near 95, low around 73.
- Monday: High near 96, low around 74.
- Tuesday: High near 96, low around 74.
- Wednesday: High near 95, low around 73.
- Thursday: High near 92.
Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events.
The weather service is advising people to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should not be left unattended in vehicles, as temperatures can reach lethal temperatures in minutes.
