Health Department Orders Pittsburgh Restaurant To Close
The Allegheny County Health Department found unsettling conditions at a Pittsburgh restaurant.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department has order the closure of La Brassa Nostra, on Baum Boulevard in Bloomfield, for numerous health code violations.
During an inspection on Tuesday, employees were observed with bare hand contact with ready-to-eat food. An employee handled raw chicken and failed to wash hands after removing gloves and donning new ones to perform a different task.
Bare hands also were observed to be handling cooked tortillas.

Employee beverages lacking a lid and straw were found to be stored on the kitchen prep counter.
Food that included cooked and raw chicken, potatoes, rice, noodles and salsa had to be discarded because they were being stored at unsafe temperatures in the walk-in cooler.

The inspector discovered that the walk-in cooler needs to be repaired.
A "closed" placard is posted at an establishment when an imminent health hazard is identified at a restaurant or kitchen or if it has been operating without proper permits. It is unlawful to operate a food facility with a "closed" placard.
