Health Department Shuts Down Pittsburgh Pizzeria
The Allegheny County Health Department has shuttered a popular Pittsburgh pizza place.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department has ordered the closure of Paisano's Restaurant & Pizzeria on East Warrington Avenue for numerous health code violations and improper permitting.
A March 28 inspection revealed numerous rodent droppings in the kitchen behind an upright freezer, in the basement by the cellar doors and in the basement.
The meat slicer blade and components were found to have dry food residue on them.

Evidence of active recurring sewage backups were found in the basement in three out of the four floor. Kitchen drain lines in the basement had leaks and cracks. The sewage backup had impacted the basement ice machine.
An overhead leak was found in the kitchen.

The pizzeria also was operating under a health permit that expired in June 2024.
A "closed" placard is posted at an establishment when an imminent health hazard is identified at a restaurant or kitchen or if it has been operating without proper permits. It is unlawful to operate a food facility with a "closed" placard.
