Health Department Shuts Down Popular Pittsburgh-Area Restaurant
The Allegheny County Health Department has ordered the closure of a popular Pittsburgh eatery.

PENN HILLS, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department has ordered the closure of Gia Visto, an Italian eatery on Saltsburg Road, for multiple health code violations.
An inspection last week revealed the eatery is operating without a valid health permit.
It also lacked the equipment to support its menu, specifically a food preparation sink. The restaurant also did not have enough conveniently located and properly operating refrigeration units to assure the proper cooling of foods at required temperatures.

The health department is mandating the restaurant reduce or modify the menu.
The "closed" placard is posted when an imminent health hazard is identified at a restaurant or if it has been operating without proper permits. It is unlawful to operate a food facility with a "closed" placard.

The restaurant stated on its Facebook page that it installing a sink and refrigeration units and anticipates reopening in two weeks.
