Heavy Metal Superstar To Participate In Steelers Home Opener
The lead singer of a heavy metal band around for a half-century will help the Steelers with their opening home game on Sunday.
PITTSBURGH, PA — The Steelers' home opener against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday will feature an unprecedented moment: A heavy metal performer singing the national anthem.
Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson will sing "The Star Spangled Banner" prior to the 1 p.m. kickoff. Dickinson will have a solo performance Saturday at Stage AE, which is across the street from Acricsure Stadium.
The game will be broadcast locally on Fox (WPGH-TV).

Elements throughout the game will recognize the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States Army. The tribute will include a flyover by the 2-104th General Support Aviation Battalion, 28th Expeditionary Combat Aviation Brigade, as well as a salute to a United States Army World War II Veteran, who was awarded the Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars for his valor in service. The Colors will be presented by the United States Army Color Guard.
Fans attending the game are encouraged to arrive 2 hours early to avoid the anticipated heavy traffic and last-minute crowds at the gate, as well as enjoy in-stadium pregame activities. Parking lots will open at 8:00 a.m. and all gates will open at 11:00 a.m.
