Here's When Summer Heat Returns To Pittsburgh

This week has been sweater weather in the Pittsburgh area, but it's almost time to break out the tank tops again. Get the details here.

PITTSBURGH, PA — According to the National Weather Service, temperatures in Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania have been more normal for late September than late August for the past week. But that is about to change.

The warmup begins over the weekend after the average maximum temperature for Pittsburgh for Tuesday and Wednesday was the sixth-coldest on record for Aug. 20-21.

The weather service is predicting urban areas in Southwestern Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio and Northern West Virginia are most likely to see above-average temperatures next week. There is an increasing chance of highs reaching 90 or higher Tuesday or Thursday.

State College-based AccuWeather believes temperatures will be near or above 90 for about a week beginning Saturday.

The Weather Channel is forecasting temperatures in the mid- to upper 80s beginning on Saturday with highs approaching 90 by midweek.
