Historic Pittsburgh Bar Reopens After Prolonged Closure
A bar that's been around for nearly a century is open again after an extended closure.
PITTSBURGH, PA — Nearly three months after being raided by Pennsylvania State Police Liquor Control Enforcement officers, Shale's Cafe has reopened. The near century-old bar is located on Fifth Avenue in the city's Uptown section across the street from PPG Paints Arena.
The bar reopened on Saturday, according to its Facebook page.
Liquor control enforcement officers shut down Shale's in January. The state police liquor control enfocement's Pittsburgh office said at the time that the closure occurred because the bar was selling alcohol without an active liquor license.

Shale's is a popular hangout for those attending Penguins games, concerts and other events at the arena. The bar first opened in 1934, according to the Facebook page.
