House Fire Claims Life Of Pittsburgh Woman
A Pittsburgh woman died early Sunday after being rescued from her burning home.
PITTSBURGH, PA — A 72-year-old woman died early Sunday after being rescued from her burning home in the 100 block of Minooka Street in Carrick.
Pittsburgh Public Safety officials said firefighters responded to the one-alarm fire just before 10 p.m. and found the woman on the fire floor of the home. Medics began life-saving measures while transporting her to the hospital in grave condition with severe burns and smoke inhalation.
She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she later died. Her identity has not yet been released.

The Fire Investigation Unit found that the fire began in the victim's bed on the first floor living room. The exact cause of the blaze is under investigation, but is believed to be accidental.
