Fake Nurse With 20 Aliases Worked At Multiple PA Health Care Facilities: State Police

A woman who claimed to be a nurse but was not was hired by many Pennsylvania health care facilities, authorities said.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Pennsylvania State Police have filed charges against a woman who allegedly has been posing as a nurse since 2020 and has worked at numerous Pittsburgh-area health care facilities.

Shannon Nicole Womack, 39, had approximately 20 different aliases and seven different social security numbers. She faces43 charges, including theft, forgery, corrupt organizations and endangering the welfare of care-dependent persons.

"The investigations showcased Womack was using the identification of nurse and nursing certifications from four different confirmed nurses from southern states," state trooper Rocco Gagliardi said at a news conference late Monday.

Womack was arrested on Monday according to court records, ABC News reported.

Womack provided false identification when she was pulled over by police in a routine traffic stop in April on Interstate 79, according to state police.

Among the places she worked in Western Pennsylvania, according to authorities:

  • Corner View Nursing and Rehabilitation in Allegheny County.
  • Eldercrest Rehabilitation in Allegheny County.
  • Harmar Village Care in Allegheny County.
  • Beaver Valley Health Care and Rehabilitation in Beaver County.
  • Sayre Health Care Center in Bradford County.
  • St. Mary’s Home of Erie in Erie County.
  • Greenery Center for Rehab and Nursing in Washington County.
  • Southmont of Presbyterian in Washington County.
  • Oak Hill Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Westmoreland County.

Womack lost most of those positions due to professional misconduct, authorities said. That included allegedly stealing oxycodone from a medical cart at one facility and stealing prescription drugs from a patient at another health care center.

State police, the Department of Stare and numerous district attorneys and states are involved in the ongoing investigation.

Investigators confirmed Womack used the following aliases in various parts of the state:

  • Shannon Nicole Parham
  • Shannon Nicole Abiola
  • Shannon Nicole Armstrong
  • Shannon Abiola-Parham
  • Shannon Nicole Grimes
  • Shannon Nicole Womack
  • Shannon Nicole Lawson
  • Shannon Nicole Lethco
  • Shannon Nicole Robinson
  • Shannon Lee Lawson
