Infant Found Dead In Trunk Of Vehicle In Pittsburgh
A newborn baby appears to have met a grisly death in the city. Get the details.
PITTSBURGH, PA — City police Violent Crime Unit detectives are investigating after an Ohio Township woman arrived a Pittsburgh hospital Friday after giving birth - but without the baby. The newborn later was found dead.
According to Pittsburgh Public Safety officials, after police questioned the mother about the infant's location they went to a vehicle parked on Federal Street on the North Side. Officers discovered the infant in a plastic bag in the trunk.
The baby was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office will determine the cause of death.
The investigation is ongoing. As of Saturday morning, no charges had been filed and the mother's name has not been disclosed.
