Kennywood, Sandcastle, Idlewild, Soak Zone Could Be Sold: Reports

WEST MIFFLIN, PA — Kenny Kangaroo, the famed mascot of Kennywood, might be getting a new top boss.
A study has been undertaken to review Parques Reunidos, the Spanish company that owns the West Mifflin amusement park. According to Theme Park Insider and Reuters, the results could trigger the sale of Parques properties in the United States, which operate under the Palace Entertainment moniker.
The company's Western Pennsylvania parks include Kennywood; Sandcastle water park in West Homestead and Idlewild and Soak Zone, both in Lignonier Township, Westmoreland County.

Parques Renuidos did not respond to a Reuters request for comment . JP Morgan, which will perform the strategic review, declined to discuss it.
According to Kennywood's website, Palace purchased it and its sister parks in 2007 from the local families that had operated Kennywood for more than 100 years. It is headquartered at The Waterfront in Homestead between Kennywood and Sandcastle.

The Palace website says it operates more than 20 properties in 10 different states and Australia, including amusement and theme parks, water parks, entertainment centers, campgrounds, and hotels.
