Longtime Pittsburgh Foster Parent Arrested On Sex Abuse Charges

A man who has been a Pittsburgh foster parent for decades has been charged with numerous sex offenses.

PITTSBURGH, PA — A man who has been a foster parent in the Pittsburgh area since the early 2000s has been arrested on sex abuse charges dating back to 2023.

Pittsburgh Public Safety officials announced that Richard Brown, 61, of Pittsburgh, was arrested on March 12. He has been charged with endangering the welfare of children, corruption of minors, two felony counts of unlawful contact with a minor, indecent assault, harassment and dissemination to minors.

He is being housed in the Allegheny County Jail.

Police have reason to believe Brown might have abused other children in his care. They urge anyone who might have been victimized by Brown or anyone who might have additional information to call the Special Victims Unit at 412-323-7141 or call 911.
