Jesus Luciano was driving more than 75 mph over the speed limit when the fatal crash occurred, police said.
PITTSBURGH, PA — A man was driving over 100 mph on a street with a 25 mph speed limit and had cocaine in his system when he caused a deadly crash in Homestead last July, police said.
Allegheny County police on Wednesday filed charges against Jesus Luciano, 37, that include homicide by vehicle, driving under the influence of a controlled substance, accidents involving death or personal injury while not properly licensed and recklessly endangering another person.
On July 3, 2024, police responded to a multi-vehicle collision in the 300 block of 8th Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered five vehicles were involved in the crash and 10 people were occupying them. Nine people were taken to area hospitals.

The initial investigation revealed a white SUV driven by Luciano was traveling west on 8th Avenue at a high rate of speed when the vehicle crossed the double yellow lines and collided head on with a white sedan. The driver of the sedan, Lynn Reynolds, 47, died three days later at the hospital.
The county police collision reconstruction unit investigation determined that Luciano had cocaine in his system at the time of the crash, was speeding at more than 100 mph in the seconds before the crash and had a suspended license from a previous arrest.
