Man Shot In Head In Pittsburgh Neighborhood

PITTSBURGH, PA — Police are investigating a Sunday night shooting in Bloomfield that left a man critically wounded.

Pittsburgh Public Safety officials said police were dispatched to the 5100 block of Cypress Street at around 11:30 p.m. for reports of a gunshot wound victim. They located a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He was alert and communicative with medics at the scene.

Pittsburgh EMS took him to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

The initial investigation indicates that the shooting occurred in the driveway of a nearby residence. Following the shooting, the victim knocked on a neighbor's door requesting help. The neighbor called 911.

The Mobile Crime Unit processed evidence at the scene and recovered a firearm as well as shell casings.

Violent Crime Unit detectives are investigating.
