Man Stabbed In Downtown Pittsburgh

Police are probing a stabbing that occurred in Downtown Pittsburgh on Wednesday.

PITTSBURGH, PA — A man was stabbed in Downtown Pittsburgh early on Wednesday.

Pittsburgh Public Safety officials said that just before 5 a.m., police were dispatched to the intersection of Liberty Avenue and Smithfield Street. An unknown individual had called 911 to report a man lying on the ground, screaming, after being stabbed.

Officers found an adult male victim suffering from multiple stab wounds to the upper torso and back.

Pittsburgh EMS responded to the scene and began treatment. The victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

The Mobile Crime Unit processed the scene, and detectives from the Violent Crime Unit are investigating.
