Pittsburgh-Area Bar Shut Down As Nuisance: DA

A Pittsburgh-area bar that was the scene of a recent violent death will not re-open.

McKEESPORT, PA — A bar that was the scene of a fatal shooting last week has been permanently closed, Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen Zappala announced Thursday.

Tube City Cafe on the 900 block of 5th Avenue has been shut down after the District Attorney's Nuisance Bar Task Force, McKeesport Police Department and the Pennsylvania State Liquor Enforcement met with the bar's owner after the shooting.

On the morning Feb. 26, Darnell Ross, 37, was shot multiple times after getting into an altercation with another man in the bar. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

In addition to the shooting, other illegal activity that took place at the bar over the past several years was discussed with the owner, Zappala said.
