Missing Pittsburgh-Area Child Found Dead; Adoptive Mother Accused Of Killing Her

A missing Pittsburgh-area child turned up dead in a river. Her adoptive mother is facing criminal homicide charges.

PITTSBURGH, PA — A 9-year-old girl from Fayette County who was originally reported missing was found dead early Thursday, authorities confirmed. Her adoptive mother is facing criminal homicide charges.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, Renesmay Eutsey was found partially submerged in the
Youghiogheny River near Smithton in Westmoreland County around 3:30 a.m.

The adoptive mother, Kourtney Malinda Eutsey, 31, has been charged with criminal homicide.

Fayette County District Attorney Michael Aubele told WTAE-TV that Eutsey withheld information from investigators after reporting the girl missing on Wednesday afternoon.

The exact cause of death was not immediately disclosed. But Aubele told WTAE that the girl appeared to be malnourished and had cigarette burns on her body.
