Missing Pittsburgh-Area Woman's Body Found

A body discovered Tuesday in Westmoreland County has been identified as a missing Pittsburgh-area woman.

COOK TOWNSHIP, PA — The body of a Ligonier woman missing since Sept. 8 has been discovered, the Westmoreland County District Attorney's Office confirmed Wednesday. Amy Shipley, 45, was found dead during a search on Helens Lane.

On Tuesday, the district attorney’s office announced a search was underway for Shipley, who was last seen in the 500 block of West Vincent Street in Ligonier.

Shipley's body was found on Tuesday and an autopsy was performed before her identity was released.

Officials did not say what led them to Shipley's body. A criminal investigation into her death has been launched.
