PITTSBURGH, PA — The U.S. Secret Service has placed multiple agents on administrative leave, including the head of the Pittsburgh field office, multiple news outlets reported Friday.

The moves come in the wake of the July 13 assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump during a rally in Butler. Trump suffered a wounded ear and three spectators were shot, one fatally, before a Secret Service sniper shot and killed gunman Thomas Crooks of Bethel Park.

At least five Secret Service employees are now on administrative leave, ABC News reported.

It's unclear if all of them work in the Pittsburgh field office. A Secret Service spokesman said the agency is not in a position to comment on personnel matters.

However, the agency issued the following statement: "The U.S. Secret Service holds our personnel to the highest professional standards, and any identified and substantiated violations of policy will be investigated by the Office of Professional Responsibility for potential disciplinary action."
