New Giant Eagle Market District Store To Open

A new Giant Eagle Market District supermarket is about to open. Find out here when and where.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The first tenant in the new Meridian retail-residential complex in East Liberty is about to debut.

A 36,000-square-foot Giant Eagle Market District grocery opens on Thursday, according to a social media post.

The store will open at 7 a.m. The first 100 patrons get a free bag filled with more than $200 in groceries.A ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. will feature the Pirate Parrot, Steelers mascot Steely McBeam and Penguins mascot Iceburgh.

Located at the intersection of Penn and Shady avenues, The Meridian expands the city's retail, dining and residential options. It's directly across the street from the East Liberty Transit Center.

Other retailers and restaurants that will open in the complex are Sephora, Barnes & Noble, J. Crew Factory, Meridian Nail Bar, Cava, Shake Shack, Atarashi and Wushiland Boba.
