Dangerous Downtown Pittsburgh: Police Seize Rifle, Drugs

PITTSBURGH, PA —Two men are in custody are in custody and facing charges after a rifle was pointed at a maintenance worker Downtown on Thursday morning.

Public Safety officers responded to the 600 block of Penn Avenue for reports of a man, apparently with a companion, brandishing a rifle.

Officers quickly located one of the suspects inside a convenience store, where he was taken into custody without incident. A brief foot chase occurred between police and the second suspect before he was apprehended at the intersection of 6th Avenue and McCrea Way.

The second suspect was found with a rifle and a significant quantity of drugs, including heroin, police said.

Both men are now in custody and are facing charges. The names of the suspects and the specific charges that are facing have yet to be released.
